WELCOME TO THE KRAAL COTTAGES

Welcome to Kamatarisi, Biharwe, where you’ll create lasting memories and appreciate the countryside’s beauty, just as those before us did.

These cottages stand in tribute to the legacies of Kesi Kabakyenga (1921-2004) and Janet Kabakyenga (1930 – 2004), both pivotal figures in Banyankore Kweterana Cooperative Union. Kesi, once a police officer turned farmer, co-founded the movement promoting coffee cultivation, elevating farmers’ incomes, and marketing coffee in Ankole. Janet, a God-fearing teacher, and skilled tailor in Mitooma, balanced her roles, enlightening others on the art of tailoring.

Known affectionately as “Dad-Baba” and “Mom-Baba,” they fostered a welcoming space for diverse guests, fostering ideas, love, and lessons. Their commitment to education, empowerment, and family values inspired their ten children, including daughters Winnie, Allen, Lorna, and grandson Charles, to establish these cottages as a testament. A testament to the spirit of togetherness instilled by Dad-Baba, these accommodations embody the values of community, education, and family.

We invite you to experience the warmth of these cottages, echoing the rich history and values passed down through generations.
